The founder of the Thodex platform is arrested in Albania

“The procedures for the extradition of Faruk Fatih Ozer to Turkey have started from the Interpol Department at the General Directorate of Police”, the announcement from the Ministry of Interior of Turkey states.

The Ministry of Interior of Turkey announced that the fugitive founder of the Thodex platform, Faruk Fatih Ozer, who is wanted under the red notice, has been captured in Albania.

In the announcement made by the Turkish ministry, it is said that the Minister of the Interior of Albania, Bledar Çuçi, informed his Turkish counterpart, Suleyman Soylu, that Ozer was captured in the city of Vlora and that his identity was confirmed by biometric results.

“The procedures for the extradition of Faruk Fatih Ozer to Turkey have started from the Interpol Department at the General Directorate of Police”, the announcement states.

The country’s prosecutor’s office on April 22, 2021 officially began the investigation after user complaints about the lack of access to the accounts of the cryptocurrency exchange, Thodex, and that the owner of the company had left the country.

In this context, it was confirmed that the owner of the company, the suspect Faruk Fatih Ozer, had left the country on April 20, 2021.

Subsequently, a restraining order was issued for many suspects, including Ozer, for whom an arrest warrant had previously been issued.

A red notice was also issued to Ozer on April 23, 2021 by Interpol.
