The EU records economic growth in the second quarter

The economy of the European Union (EU) in the second quarter of this year recorded an increase of 0.7 percent compared to the previous quarter.

As reported by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat), the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the Eurozone increased by 0.8 percent compared to the first quarter.

In these countries, GDP grew by 4.1 percent in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.

Meanwhile, the GDP in the EU increased by 0.7 percent in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter and by 4.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

In the EU, an increase of 0.6 percent compared to the previous quarter and 4 percent compared to the same period of 2021 was expected.

The Eurozone recorded an increase of 0.6 percent compared to the previous quarter and 3.9 percent compared to the same period of the year passed.

GDP in Spain and Italy increased by 1.1 percent, in France by 0.5 percent and in Germany by 0.1 percent compared to the previous quarter.

Employment in the EU increased by 2.4 percent compared to the same quarter last year, while in the Eurozone employment increased by 0.4 percent.
