The European Union has imposed sanctions on three Iranian generals and an arms manufacturer accused of supplying Russia with Iranian kamikaze drones that were used in the latest wave of airstrikes against Ukrainian civilian targets and infrastructure.

“After 3 days of talks, EU ambassadors agreed on measures against the entities that supply the Iranian drones that struck Ukraine. The EU is also prepared to extend sanctions against four other Iranian entities that have already appeared on a previous sanctions list.” said the statement.

The names of Iranian drone manufacturer Shahed Aviation Industries and three senior Iranian military officials were published in the EU’s official journal, adding them to the sanctions blacklist.

It is learned that sanctions have been imposed on Major General Mohammed Hossein Bagheri, the current chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, logistics officer General Sayed Hojatollah Qureishi and Brigadier General Saeed Aghajani, commander of the Revolutionary Guard’s drone program.

Ukraine has accused Russia of using Iranian-made “kamikaze” drones in attacks on cities and energy infrastructure in recent weeks.
