Super Mario Kart celebrates its 30th anniversary

Mario

The game Super Mario Kart first appeared in 1992, a few years after the arrival of the Super Nintendo console on the market and is now celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The game Super Mario Kart featured Nintendo’s Mario, his friends and enemies, who were placed in karts to race on tracks.

Although it all seemed a bit silly at first, especially compared to existing racing sims from the nineties, Super Mario Kart became a huge commercial hit, as well as the first gaming experience for many of us. The additional feature was represented by the possibility of multiplayer races and battles, enhanced by the N64 console thanks to four ports for controllers. The “weapons” were turtle shells, fire flowers and bananas.

Nintendo continued to develop the series for three decades and released 15 games featuring various vehicles, co-pilots and tracks, with handheld versions appearing as well. The latest version of Mario Kart 8 Delixa has received eight new tracks.

The game is not only related to consoles, it has long gone beyond these boundaries as it has inspired the production of toy remote control cars, park attractions, the development of mobile spin-offs and the like.

Time passes quickly and this is shown by the fact that the game Super Mario Kart celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
