Russia is ready for compromise with the West

A realistic proposal is the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine and the withdrawal of troops from Ukrainian territory, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Oleg Nikolenko, regarding the statement of the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, that the Russian side is still ready for negotiations regarding the solution of the situation in Ukraine, assessed that the statement of the Russian Foreign Minister was nothing more than, as he said, another statement to buy time “while the Russian army suffers defeats”.

“As long as Russia continues to commit crimes in Ukraine, there should be only one response – on the battlefield,” believes Nikolenko.

Lavrov previously stated that in the last six months there have been several initiatives by the Americans and some other foreign ministers of Western countries who have requested telephone talks with the Russian leader.

“We will always be ready to listen to possible proposals from our Western colleagues to reduce tensions,” Lavrov said.

According to his words, the Russian side is “always ready to listen to Western colleagues if they once again ask to organize talks”.

He added that Russia is ready to listen to Western countries if they approach it with realistic proposals based on the principles of equality and mutual respect of interests, aimed at finding a compromise and balancing the interests of all countries in the region.
