Russia begins withdrawing some troops from Kyiv.

Two senior US officials have said Russia has begun withdrawing some forces from the Ukrainian capital.

They said that the US is seeing this as a “big” strategic change, with the tactical groups of Russian battalions already on the move.

Officials added that this is being hailed as a long-term move as Russia has acknowledged its failure to advance north.

Earlier, Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had decided to “drastically reduce military action” around Kyiv and Chernihiv.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has signaled that the United States remains skeptical of Russia’s intentions and said he has not yet seen “real seriousness” – thus opposing anonymous officials.
