Roblox removes video games related to Ukraine war

The largest children’s gaming platform, Roblox, has removed 2 games that allowed players to fight and kill each other as Russians or Ukrainians.

One of them, called War on Larkiv: Ukraine, was exposed to users in the discovery section of Roblox. This game reached over 90,000 players in less than 2 weeks.

Roblox said both games violated their community standards, and removed them within hours.

War on Larkiv was based on a fictitious city that resembled the real-life city of Kharkiv, the city where hundreds of people died from Russian bombing after their aggression in Ukraine in February this year.

The other game, called Battle for Ukraine, had been on the Roblox website for months.

This game allowed players to watch the bombing of cities such as Mariupol, which was besieged and largely destroyed by Russian forces earlier this year.

Fifty million players, mostly children, access Roblox every day to explore, play mini-games and create their own personal “experience”.
