Rishi Sunak leads the race to succeed Boris Johnson

Election

Rishi Sunak leads the race to succeed Boris Johnson.

Jeremy Hunt and Nadhim Zahawi are out of the race for the head of the Conservative party of Great Britain.

Britain’s ruling party is holding internal elections after the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 Conservative Committee, has already announced the results of the first ballot.

Rishi Sunak, the candidate with Indian parents and former Chancellor of the Exchequer, leads the race with 88 votes while six candidates have advanced to the second round.

Polls say second-placed Business Secretary Penny Mordaunt is likely to succeed Johnson as head of government.

We emphasize that during the next day, the second round of voting will be organized within the Conservative party.

Otherwise, the current British Prime Minister, Johnson, has resigned as the head of the party after hiding some scandals of his party colleagues.
