Putin threatens to use more advanced weapons

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow could adopt what he described as the US concept of pre-emptive military strikes, adding that Russia has the weapons to do so.

Putrin made the statement at a summit in Kyrgyzstan, where the economic alliance of former Soviet countries has gathered, amid growing tensions between Russia and NATO over the war in Ukraine.

“We’re just thinking about it. They have not been very shy when they have openly discussed this over the past few years,” Putin said, referring to US policies.

For years, the Kremlin has expressed concern about US efforts to develop the ability to accurately strike an adversary’s strategic targets anywhere in the world within an hour.

“When we talk about disarming attacks, maybe it’s worth thinking about adopting the ideas developed by our American counterparts, their ideas to guarantee their security,” the Kremlin chief underlined.
