Putin and Macron agree on a visit to the power plant

Power plant

Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron have agreed to a visit to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors, the Kremlin says.

During their phone call a short time ago, Putin blamed Kiev for the recent shelling of the facility, the statement continued. Ukraine has previously made the same accusation against Russia. This nuclear power plant is the largest in Europe.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres believes potential damage to the Zaporizhzhia plant could be “suicide” and Turkey’s president has said no one wants another Chernobyl – the world’s worst nuclear accident when Ukraine was under Soviet rule.
