Luka Jovic has left Real Madrid to join Fiorentina for free.

He is already in Florence, with the Serie A club having informed fans of the former Eintracht Frankfurt forward’s arrival.

Real Madrid have agreed to let Jovic leave on a free transfer, but they retain 50 percent of the future sale for the next two years. In return, Fiorentina will cover the player’s salary.

Real Madrid had bought him for less than 63 million euros, while his current value is 16 million euros according to Transfermarkt.

Jovic is arguably one of the worst signings in Real Madrid history in terms of cost and performance.

The €63 million Real Madrid paid Eintracht Frankfurt for his signature makes Jovic the eighth most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Real Madrid had never before paid such an amount for a centre-forward, with the second most expensive signing being Ronaldo Nazario, who moved from Inter for €45 million, and the third most expensive being Benzema, who was joined from Lyon for 35 million euros.

Jovic leaves Real Madrid with just three goals in 51 appearances. The Serbian, who arrived after scoring 40 goals in 93 Bundesliga games, failed to live up to expectations.

His father said a few days ago that this deal will prove who was right. On the one hand, his son, on the other, Zinedine Zidane, and then Carlo Ancelotti and a club that no longer believed in him.
