Landslide

At least 25 people have been killed and more than 50 others are missing as a result of landslides in the Venezuelan city of Las Tejerías. Among the killed are two small children.

Foreign media reports that around 1,000 emergency personnel are participating in search and rescue operations.

“We are trying to save everyone we can and we express our condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one,” said Vice President Delcy Rodríguez.

President Nicolás Maduro has declared three days of national mourning.

Torrential rains caused the El Pato River to burst its banks. The waters inundated trees, cars, houses and shops in the city.
