Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has received the support of 100 Tory MPs, according to a source from Johnson’s campaign team, but the team has not released the names of these supporters and is twice the number of MPs who have come out publicly in support of Johnson.
At the moment, 186 of the 357 conservative MPs – about half – have publicly expressed their views on who they will support for the position of the next British Prime Minister.
At the moment, 114 MPs have come out publicly with their support for Rishi Sunak, 50 MPs have come out publicly for Johnson, and 22 MPs have come out in support of the candidate for Prime Minister of Britain, Penny Mordaunt.
Penny Mordaunt on Friday officially announced her candidacy for the position of Prime Minister. Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson have yet to officially announce their candidacy to run.
Nominations will close on Monday and candidates have until then to find 100 supporters to move on.
