Iran denies involvement in the attack on Salman Rushdie.

Iranian officials have spoken about the attack on the writer Salman Rushdie in New York, categorically denying Tehran’s involvement in this activity.

Iran’s Foreign Affairs spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, addressed the media at a conference organized in the Iranian capital, from where he ordered that Iran was not involved in the attack on the journalist.

“We categorically deny involvement in any form in the attack on Rushdie. “No one has the right to accuse Iran of this case,” the spokesman added.

Although the Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini called for Rushdie’s assassination as early as the 80s, Iranian officials have emphasized that no one should be blamed for this attack except Salman Rushdie.

“In this attack, we consider only Salman Rushdie and his supporters to be guilty. By insulting Islam’s holiest and crossing red lines for more than a billion Muslims, Salman Rushdie decided to cause outrage,” Kaanani added.

After news of the attack on the Indian-origin writer became public, Iranian media reported the news quoting Ayatollah Khomeini.

“The sentence is quoted saying that the call has been made and will not stop until the mission is completed,” Iranian media reported.
