Hitler‘s watch is up for auction.

For almost 80 years, Adolf Hitler’s watch has been hidden by the family of a French soldier who stole it during the raid on the Berghof, the Nazi dictator’s fortified residence in Bavaria.

Now the watch is expected to be sold at auction in the United States, for a significant figure.

It is a watch that the Nazi party gave to its Fuhrer to celebrate the election victory of 1933. Manufactured by a prestigious Swiss firm such as Le Coultre, and modified with customizations by Andreas Huber, the official watchmaker of Bavaria.

The watch, which has an interesting rotating mechanism of the field, to protect it in special cases, bears the initials of the dictator as well as three important dates for him, his birthday, the day he was declared chancellor and precisely the victory of the party in the elections.

The watch from 1945 belongs to the Mignot family, descendants of a French soldier who was part of the troops that trained at the Berghof residence, one of the symbols of Nazi power, five days after Hitler’s suicide.

The auction will be held in Maryland, United States, and it is expected that the sale will fetch about 4 million dollars.

The auction organizers specify that they do not want to celebrate the Nazi leader, but simply to highlight a unique object of a dark human history.

As for the price, they don’t believe that it is so salty, since a little while ago the watch of the Hollywood star Paul Newman was sold for almost 18 million dollars.
