Google will warn Ukrainians about airstrikes.

Google has announced that users of devices with Android operating system, will be warned with a message about Russian air strikes before they occur near them.

In a blog post, Google confirmed the cooperation with the Ukrainian government in order to make the air strike warning system – which is intended for smartphones with Android operating system.

“Unfortunately, millions of people in Ukraine are relying on sirens warning of airstrikes, so that they can try to take citizens in safer places,” the blog post said.

The warning on Android will be based on data already sent to them by the Ukrainian government, and this is being done in order for this warning to be sent earlier, said Dave Burke, vice president of the Android development department.

Google has already launched the Ukrainian Alarm app on the Google Play Store, which sends alerts for attacks on Ukrainians in regions where ongoing attacks take place.

The new system will be accessible from today on all smartphones running Android, which are widely used by residents of Ukraine.
