Google Messages gets the ability to react with emojis

A day after it was revealed that Apple is taking credit for Google by adding iMessage feedback to Android, the Messages app has started rolling out the ability to leave feedback on SMS texts, which is already possible with RCS.

In mid-2020, Google rolled out the ability to send RCS feedback just like iMessage. When you accept an RCS message, holding it down allows you to react with one of seven emojis, including thumbs up/down and a variety of facial expressions.

9to5google reports that they have now received 2 reports from Google Messages users who say they were able to react to messages.

Same as with RCS, you just press the message to get all seven reactions, which remain unchanged.

If the recipient of the SMS is using Google Mesagges, the response is displayed only in the lower right corner.

Google’s new design is prettier and more visually distinct than the iPhone equivalent, which only sends a text description instead of an emoji.
