Germany will keep two nuclear power plants active

Germany has chosen to keep two nuclear power plants operating this winter, in a significant policy shift.

This comes as European nations face an energy crisis amid the war in Ukraine.

Russian gas giant Gazprom confirmed on Friday that it will shut down its main gas pipeline to Germany.

It is learned that it will remain closed for an indefinite period of time due to “oil leaks”.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday and made a pact to help each other through the winter.

Now, Germany has decided to keep two nuclear power plants in reserve.

“I will do everything to guarantee Germany’s energy security,” said German Economy Minister Robert Habeck.
