France ‘calls for clarification’ Russian envoy.

Russia’s ambassador to France was “called for clarification” at the French Foreign Ministry on Friday over an earlier embassy post on Twitter that Paris considered unacceptable, the foreign ministry said.

The Russian embassy in Paris on Thursday posted a photo depicting a body lying on a table called “Europe” with characters representing the United States and the European Union inserting needles into it.

“These posts are unacceptable. “We have made this clear to the Russian ambassador today,” the ministry said in a statement.

“We are trying to maintain a channel of dialogue with Russia and these actions are completely inappropriate.”

France’s European Affairs Minister Clement Beaune criticized the post on Thursday, calling it “a disgrace” in response to a drawing posted earlier in the afternoon on the Russian Embassy in France’s Twitter account.

The drawing – which has now been removed – meant that the European continent was being destroyed by policies pursued by the United States and the EU.

The Russian embassy in Paris had set the time for the publication of the cartoon to coincide with Thursday’s unprecedented triple summit in Brussels of NATO, the G7 and the European Union to discuss how to tackle Russian aggression in Ukraine.
