Electric cars have become more expensive

The price increases are often at the level of the amount for which we could buy a solid used car until recently.

8,520 euros, 6,430 euros, 2,600 euros: these are not used car prices, but mark-up amounts for the most popular electric cars in Germany, the Tesla Model 3, the Fiat 500e and the Volkswagen ID.3, and that’s not even the worst , because the Ford Mustang Mach-E has increased in price by an incredible 9,000 euros in just one year.

This is the data of the Automotive Industry Research Center (CAR) there, which confirms the drastic increase in prices in the German market. A review of the 15 most popular electric cars reveals an incredible figure – cars have increased by 14.5 percent or an average of 5,385 euros.

At the same time, the price hike affected everything from low-budget brands to premium brands like Audi. Even “fossils” increased in price, but still somewhat less. The average price increase for fossil fuel models is 12.5 percent or 3,530 euros.

Battery production alone will increase by 22 percent in the coming years due to rising raw material prices, and a few years ago, a drastic drop in prices and increased competition from electric drives were predicted.

CAR is of the opinion that due to the increase in the cost of purchasing raw materials, the difference in prices will increase even more. First of all, because of the higher costs of buying semiconductors and raw materials, which are more necessary for electric vehicles, and all this can slow down electrification.
