Denmark donates anti-ship missile launcher to Ukraine

Denmark donates anti-ship missile launcher to Ukraine.

Denmark will donate a missile launcher to Ukraine for anti-ship missiles known as Harpoon, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced on Monday.

The Danish government promised this “device” during a virtual meeting of the so-called Ukrainian Defense Contact Group earlier in the day.

The Contact Group includes more than 40 defense ministers and chiefs, including Austin and Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov.

It was a forum for Reznikov to express his country’s military needs as his wider war with Russia enters its fourth month.

“I am particularly grateful to Denmark, which announced today that it will provide a launcher and a Harpoon missile to help Ukraine defend its shores,” Austin was quoted as saying.

It is not difficult to guess what the Ukrainians will do with it. They will send it to Odessa, Ukraine’s strategic port on the west coast of the Black Sea country, in order to protect the port from attacks by the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
