Bus collides with truck, 15 people die in India

A terrible accident happened today in the Indian state causing casualties and many injured.

At least 15 people were killed when a bus collided with a truck on a highway in central India, local police said today.

At least 40 other people were injured in the accident, which occurred in the Rewa district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh late Friday night, police added.

There were 60 passengers on the bus when it collided with a truck, which had collided with another truck on the highway shortly before, local police officer Navneet Kumar said.

He added that most of the passengers were laborers traveling home from the northern state of Uttar Pradesh to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights, Diwali.

India has one of the highest death rates in the world, with hundreds of thousands killed and injured every year.
