Britain rejects Putin’s statements

The claims of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, that only a part of the wheat exported from Ukraine is reaching the poor countries, are not true, the British Ministry of Defense has said.

Without providing data, Putin said on September 7 that only two of the 87 ships with about 60,000 tons of products went to the poor countries.

The agreement between Russia and Ukraine, for the export of wheat from the Ukrainian Black Sea ports, was mediated weeks ago by the United Nations and Turkey.

Citing UN data, the British ministry said on September 11 that about 30 percent of wheat exports were sent to middle- and low-income countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
