Boris Johnson: Ukraine can certainly win.
“I think Ukraine can certainly win.” This is what the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson said.
He further added: “I do not think it will be easy. There is a sense in which Vladimir Putin has already failed, or lost, because I think he had no idea that the Ukrainians would resist the way they are doing, and he completely misunderstood what Ukraine is – and, far from his plans for the extinction of Ukraine as a nation, he has strengthened it. He can not subjugate Ukraine. He can not win.”
Johnson added that he was not “optimistic” that Putin really wants peace.
“I think he has decided to try to ‘Grozny-lady’ the big cities of Ukraine in the way he has always tried to do – and I think that is a tragic mistake.”
This was a reference to the Chechen city of Grozny, which Russia heavily bombed and besieged in 1999-2000.
