Boris Johnson may become the special envoy to Ukraine?

Boris Johnson is “settling” for a new life after Downing Street – as “special envoy to Ukraine”.

Officials want the prime minister to take a leading role as a “diplomatic liaison” between Western allies and the war-torn country.

This would allow him to build on his close relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and maintain a powerful position on the world stage.

If Johnson accepts, it will also ensure he continues to act as a “major irritant” to Russian despot Vladimir Putin.

The move – which is being considered at the highest levels – has been proposed by former senior government advisers.

A group of former senior strategy advisers and military officers believe Johnson would be ideal for the post because of his unique approach and knowledge of all major parties.

Professor Gwythian Prins, an expert in military strategy and an adviser to the Chief of Defense Staff, says it would provide a “golden bridge” from Downing Street to the Prime Minister.

The plan for a quick return to the political spotlight has been proposed to Mr Johnson’s team, the UK cabinet and senior Ukrainian officials.

They see the fight against Putin as at a critical stage, where a major figure like Mr Johnson can help turn things around.

He would act as an intermediary for the movement of arms and military aid between the West and Ukraine.

He would also take a role in any future peace talks.
