BMW urges owners to send cars for service.

German carmaker BMW has called on owners of one million cars worldwide to bring their motor vehicles for servicing, due to a problem that has emerged in the engine ventilation system that could cause a fire.

Fire hazard may occur while vehicles are in motion or even after stopping. BMW has announced that cars can still be driven, as fires are very rare

The German company urges drivers to send cars for service if they smell smoke or burn plastic or simply see smoke under the hood – advising them to turn off the vehicle immediately.

These are 917 thousand cars in the US and 98 thousand in Canada and 18 thousand in South Korea. Call for service includes X3, X5, Z4 and Series 1,3 and 5 models manufactured from 2006 to 2013.
