A man’s body has been found in the undercarriage of a plane that flew from Gambia to Great Britain.

The unidentified body of a black male was found on a plane operated by TUI Airways – a British airline.

The plane had flown from Gambia’s capital Banjul to London’s Gatwick Airport, the Gambian government spokesman said in a statement on Tuesday.

Sussex Police said the body was discovered at Gatwick at around 4am on December 7.

As the media points out, a flight from Gambia to Britain takes an average of 6 hours.

“This unfortunate incident, although rare, shows how desperate some people are to the point of taking such a dangerous way to migrate,” said Rida Lyammouri, senior fellow at a Morocco-based organization focused on economics and politics.

“This will not stop some West Africans from making dangerous attempts to reach Europe and unfortunately we will continue to see people die in the Mediterranean and the Sahel desert,” he said.

However, this is not the first time.

In 2015, Dutch authorities discovered a body in the landing gear of a plane from Africa at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport.

While in November of this year, three tourists were found in the “steering part” of a ship in the Canary Islands after an 11-day ocean voyage from Nigeria.
