A mass shooting at a bar in Johannesburg’s Soweto township has left 15 people dead and others in critical condition, South African police said.

Police say they are investigating reports that a group of men arrived in a minibus taxi and opened fire on people in the bar late Saturday night.

So, the police were called during the night, around midnight.

“When we arrived at the scene, 12 people died from gunshot wounds,” local police officer Nonhlanhla Kubheka told AFP.

Eleven injured people were taken to hospital and two died shortly after arrival, she said early this morning.

While there are no details about the attackers, no one has been arrested and an investigation has been launched.

On Sunday morning, police were still at the scene, removing the bodies.

The bar is located in the Orlando East area of ​​Soweto, the largest settlement in Johannesburg, in the southwest of the city.
