Planning is underway for US President Joe Biden to welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House on Wednesday.
The surprise visit will coincide with the administration’s intention to send a new package of defense assistance that will include Patriot missile systems, according to two sources familiar with the planning.
The visit, which has not been finalized and is being kept secret due to security concerns, would mark the first trip outside Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in February.
The White House declined to comment on a possible visit.
We recall that Biden had visited the neighboring country of Ukraine, Poland, where he had also met some Ukrainian refugees and officials of that country.
Otherwise, Russia has launched an unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine on February 24, causing casualties and material damage.
