US to send more troops to Estonia


The United States will deploy additional infantry troops to Estonia “over the coming weeks” to bolster defenses on NATO’s eastern flank, Estonian defense officials said.

This deployment consists of a group of US infantry – a unit that usually consists of 80 to 250 soldiers – the Estonian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Along with the soldiers, high mobility missile systems, known as HIMARS, but also other military equipment will be sent.

“This decision marks a significant increase in the US military presence in Estonia and the Baltic States, demonstrating the long-term commitment of the US to the security of our region while strengthening NATO’s defenses,” he said. the Estonian Minister of Defense, Hanno Pevkur.
