US commandos arrest six ISIS terrorists in Syria

US forces have arrested six ISIS operatives in a series of raids across northeastern Syria since Sunday, according to US Central Command.

US commandos captured the terrorists during three separate helicopter raids within a 48-hour period.

One of the six arrested was a senior Islamic State-Syria official known as al-Zubaydi, who was involved in planning and facilitating ISIS attacks in Syria.

The operation was the latest in a string of US strikes in northeastern Syria this year – and the second just this month.

The most recent helicopter strike, on December 11, killed two ISIS officials. On October 5, US forces picked up an ISIS bandit wanted for arms smuggling in another helicopter strike in the region.

Elite US troops began the year with a strike in February targeting ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, who blew himself up rather than be captured.

Although ISIS has not had a foothold in large areas of Syria and Iraq since 2019, its sleeper cells have continued to carry out bloody attacks in both countries.
