UN: Investigation into forced abortions in Nigeria

UN

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an investigation into forced abortions allegedly carried out by the Nigerian military, UN spokesman Stefan Duzarik said today.

The Secretary-General considers with deep concern the allegations of systematic and forced abortions carried out by the Nigerian military against women and girls who were victims of Boko Haram.

The allegations require a detailed investigation and the implementation of immediate corrective action and accountability,” the UN spokesperson said in an email.

Nigeria’s defense chief said the military will not investigate the report’s claims because they are not true.
