Scooter driver falls on the tracks – run over by the subway

In the Schwedenplatz subway station, a man (31) fell on his scooter and onto the tracks – despite the emergency braking that was initiated immediately, he was hit by the approaching subway and rolled over.

According to Wiener Linien, the terrible accident happened around 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday evening. A scooter driver (31) fell in the area of the platform, fell on the tracks and was run over by the incoming subway despite an emergency brake that was initiated immediately. He suffered serious injuries to his upper body and legs and was given first aid by the professional rescue service and taken to the hospital. The U4 Schwedenplatz station was closed until 8 p.m.

The Wiener Linien communications team appeals to everyone not to ride scooters in the subway area.
