French President Emmanuel Macron stated that he recently had a “clear and honest” conversation with the owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, about monitoring and controlling content on the social network.
This reaction of Macron comes a day after the French leader expressed concern over the issue.
“A transparent policy towards users, a significant strengthening of content control and the protection of freedom of speech, these are the things that Twitter must fulfill in order to comply with European regulations,” Macron said on Twitter, after meeting with Musk on Friday.
Macron, who is visiting the US, said Thursday on “Good Morning America” that there must be “responsibility and limits” to freedom of speech.
Musk bought Twitter on October 27, paying $44 billion.
