Some footage said to be from El Paso, Texas and posted on social media showed migrants crossing a southern border fence and running through speeding traffic along State Highway 375.
The footage shows 13-14 illegal immigrants crossing a border fence that separates Mexico from the United States before avoiding traffic.
The person who recorded the video could be heard yelling and cheering for the individuals as they passed in traffic.
According to foreign media, the video reveals the “easy” nature of the border and how easy it can be to cross it and enter Texas, where communities struggle with record numbers of illegal crossings.
2022 ended with 2,378,944 “immigrant encounters,” according to data released in September, the highest ever recorded in a fiscal year.
