The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop, has announced that he has nominated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

“I nominated President Erdogan for the Nobel Peace Prize because of the efforts to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine,” Sentop said.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Turkey has continuously participated as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine.

With the mediation of Turkey and the UN, an agreement on the export of agricultural products from Ukraine, the Black Sea Grain Initiative, was signed on July 22, which was extended for 120 days on November 17.

The deal helped avert a global food crisis by allowing the export of food and fertilizer from several Ukrainian Black Sea ports blocked by Russia.

Otherwise, Russia has launched an unjustifiable invasion of the Ukrainian state on February 24, causing casualties and material damage.
