Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Russia intends to use Iranian missiles for possible attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure, particularly the country’s energy sector.

Already, more than 4.5 million customers are without electricity in Kiev and six other regions due to the Russian attacks, Zelensky said in his late-night speech on Sunday.

“We also understand that the terrorist state is concentrating forces and means for a possible repetition of massive attacks on our infrastructure. First of all, energy,” said Zelensky. “In particular, for this, Russia needs Iranian missiles,” the Ukrainian president said, adding that Ukraine is “preparing to respond.”

He also said that on Sunday, the Russians “again used Iranian attack drones,” but he did not elaborate.

“The whole world will know that the Iranian regime helps Russia prolong this war,” Zelensky said.

“If it were not for the Iranian supply of weapons to the aggressor, we would be closer to peace now,” he continued. “And that means closer to a complete solution to the food crisis.”

Iran is preparing to send about 1,000 additional weapons, including missiles and more attack drones, to Russia, officials from a Western country that closely monitors Iran’s weapons program said.
