Slovenia became its first female president, after the independent candidate Natasha Pirc Musar won in the second round of the elections, who won more votes than the opponent Anzhe Logar.
According to the latest results, based on 98.29 percent of the votes, Pirc Musar won 54.03 votes, while the candidate of the Slovenian Democratic Party, Logar, won 45.97 percent.
Logar said the campaign was difficult and he arrived to congratulate his opponent Pirc Musar.
The Prime Minister of Slovenia, Robert Golob, also congratulated the new president.
“This is evidence that citizens want to live in a country where the basic elements of democracy will be respected – human rights, the rule of law, independent media, freedom and dialogue,” said Golob.
