German gas storage facilities are now 99.19 percent full, according to the latest preliminary data from European gas storage operators.
Storage facilities are compensating for fluctuations in gas consumption.
They usually fill up well when the heating season starts in the fall. Their levels then decline until spring. In Germany there are about 25 storage operators with about 40 underground gas storage facilities.
The German government has tried to ensure that gas storage facilities are almost full when the colder weather begins. This year, the aim is to better prepare the country for the possible complete loss of Russian supplies in the winter.
The president of Germany’s energy regulator, the Federal Grid Agency, Klaus Müller said that despite historic achievements in conservation, it is important to be very careful with gas consumption and save as much as possible.
