Germany, Denmark and Norway have said they will spend 92 million euros to buy 16 Slovak Zuzana-2 howitzers for Ukraine, the German defense ministry said.
The weapons, which can fire six rounds per minute at a range of 40 kilometers, will be built in Slovakia, with deliveries starting next year, the ministry said.
Ukraine, which has scored notable battlefield successes against Russia in recent weeks, says it needs more and heavier weaponry to repel the invasion that Moscow launched in February.
Earlier it was reported that Russia had struck the hometown of Ukrainian President Kryvyu Rih in southern Ukraine with a suicide drone.
In recent weeks, Russia has begun using Iranian-made suicide drones to attack targets in Ukraine.
“Kamikaze drones”, which fly at low altitude and explode on impact, have been used in Ukraine.
