The VW Golf VIII was introduced in 2019, receiving a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP on the day.
But while that rating was valid for up to three years, VW decided to update the safety of its popular hatchback with the addition of a central airbag.
With this, this car also excelled in a new round of Euro NCAP tests according to the strictest protocols of 2022.
The entire Golf range now comes standard with a central airbag positioned between the driver and front passenger, protecting them in the event of a side impact.
This type of airbag is starting to become more common in modern vehicles.
Despite having already been tested three years ago, the Golf passed 14 new tests out of a total of 21 tests included in the Euro NCAP procedure.
