Senior Ukrainian officials have accused Russia of staging a propaganda show in the occupied Ukrainian city of Kherson, after the region’s pro-Russian leaders announced they had begun preparations to defend the city from Ukrainian attacks – urging civilians to to run away.
Andriy Jermak, head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has denied that Ukrainian forces are shelling the occupied city.
“The Russians are trying to scare the people of Kherson with false reports of the shelling of the city – by organizing a propaganda show of evacuation,” Jermak said – adding that “this propaganda will not work for you.”
Otherwise, pro-Russian officials in the Ukrainian region occupied by the Russians have called for evacuation, because the Ukrainians are expanding their counteroffensive and that they are expected to attack them in the near future.
Even the Russian commander engaged to lead the war in Ukraine has said that the situation in that country is tense – admitting that Ukrainian forces have advanced towards Kherson.
