During the day, foreign media reported that a boy had been rescued from the rubble of a building in Mykolaiv after Russian forces bombed the region.
Footage showed rescuers carrying the 11-year-old into an ambulance after he was trapped under the rubble of a five-storey building for more than six hours.
However, regional governor Vitaliy Kim now says the boy has died after suffering a cardiac arrest.
“They brought him to the regional hospital for dialysis and there he went into cardiac arrest. We have no words,” said Kim.
The 11-year-old boy was pulled from the wreckage on Thursday morning.
