Two volunteer soldiers opened fire on other troops at a Russian military firing range near Ukraine, killing 11 soldiers and wounding 15 others, the Russian defense ministry said.
The shooting is said to have taken place in the Belgorod region of southwestern Russia, which borders Ukraine.
Moscow’s Defense Ministry said the two volunteers from an unnamed former Soviet country opened fire on other soldiers during the exercise before being killed by return fire.
The ministry called the incident a terrorist attack.
