A Russian military plane has crashed in a residential area in southern Siberia, local authorities said.

The Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jet crashed into a two-story house in the city of Irkutsk, regional governor Igor Kobzev posted on Telegram.

The governor said he was on the scene and both pilots were killed, but no residents were injured.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the plane was on a test flight when it crashed.

Footage on social media showed what appeared to be several burning buildings. This was the second such incident in 6 days.

Last Monday, a Sukhoi Su-34 military jet crashed into an apartment block in the southern city of Yeysk, near Ukraine, killing at least 15 people.
