The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, declared that Ukraine is preparing an attack on the territory of his country.
Lukashenko, who is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said Russia and Belarus would deploy a joint military task force.
“Today, Ukraine is not discussing, but planning attacks on the territory of Belarus. We have agreed to deploy units of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus”, Belarusian leader Lukashenka said during a meeting with security officials.
According to him, the formation of these groups of soldiers started two days ago, which coincides with the day when an explosion hit the bridge connecting Crimea with Russia.
Russian forces used Belarusian territory to launch their invasion of Ukraine on February 24, sending troops and equipment into northern Ukraine through bases in Belarus.
