Two Palestinians, including a doctor, were killed during an Israeli raid in the West Bank city of Jenin, the Palestinian health ministry announced.
Dr. Abdullah al-Ahmad “died after a bullet pierced his head, which was fired by the occupying (Israeli) soldiers”, the ministry further writes.
A ministry spokesman told that another Palestinian, Mateen Debaya, was also killed in the raid on the city’s refugee camp, with five others wounded.
The militant group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, called Debaya a “warrior”. The ministry said Ahmad was shot outside a government hospital located on the edge of the camp.
The Israeli army did not comment on those killed. In a statement, the army said that “explosive devices and a large number of shots were fired at the security forces.
“The forces responded with fire to the armed suspects.” Three people were arrested, including a member of Hamas, who the army said was suspected of carrying out attacks against Israeli forces.
Israel has occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank since the 1967 Six-Day War.
