The British Ministry of Defense has announced that the Russian withdrawal from the Ukrainian city of Lyman has caused a “type of important political obstacle”.
In the latest report on the situation in Ukraine, the British Ministry of Defense announced that Russian forces “suffered heavy losses” until it withdrew, adding that the move led to increased tensions and fueled criticism of senior management of the Russian army.
This city is operationally very important because of its position in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, which Russia said it was “looking to liberate” after Vladimir Putin unilaterally annexed it on Friday.
On the other hand, the Kremlin has announced that its troops have withdrawn from this city, due to the risk that they could be surrounded by Ukrainian forces.
