Three weeks after the counter-offensive in the north-east of the country, which enabled them to regain control of several thousand square kilometers of territory, Ukrainian forces continue to put pressure on the Russian army in Donbas.
In the other Kharkiv region, which was also recaptured in recent weeks, Ukrainians control most of the city of Kupiansk, whose railway was earlier used by Russia to supply its troops in the south.
However, a small area on the eastern bank of the Oskil River remains in the hands of Russian troops, which prevent Ukrainian troops from advancing towards the Luhansk region.
“Despite Russia’s senseless war and the opponents’ lack of initiative, the command of the Russian army continues to lead its troops to death. Moscow’s efforts in Donetsk will go down in history as one of the most cynical murders of its soldiers,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Ukrainian troops are investigating suspicions of a mass grave at an abandoned former Russian base near the border.
The structure is a former industrial farm outside the locality of Kozaça Lopan, about 2 kilometers from the international border, used by the Russians to hide tanks.
