The water of the Inhulets River turned red two days after Russian missiles hit hydraulic structures in Kryvyi Rih in a targeted attack on the infrastructure of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown.
It remains unclear why the river changed color after the attack, which caused the river to rise by five meters, flooding parts of the city and prompting evacuations.
But beyond the flooding, residents of this region relied on those water bodies for their clean water and temporarily lost access to their tap water.
Oleksandr Vilkul, the head of Kryvyi Rih’s military administration, said on Telegram on Friday that “the city’s water supply has stabilized.”
